Match Reports
Men’s 50’s
The Australians have continued their impressive form in the Men’s 50’s division, claiming a 3-0 series win following a 7-1 with win against New Zealand on Saturday.
New Zealand were on the scoreboard early, with Graeme O’Callaghan scoring the opening touchdown of the match to take a 1-0 lead.
Australia levelled the score at one-a-piece two minutes later through a Jeff Cheung touchdown, before touchdowns to Mike Thoars , David McDonald and David Cheung gave Australia a comfortable 4-1 lead at the half-break.
The second half was all Australia, with Tim Kitchingham, David McDonald and David Cheung all scoring to give Australia a 7-1 win and a 3-0 series win.
Men’s 40’s
New Zealand has won a hard fought game three of the Men’s 40’s division, running away with the win by one touchdown, 6-5 in a tough encounter.
New Zealand’s Shane Edwards put his side on the scoreboard in the third minute, with his touchdown giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
It was 2-0 shortly after when Greg Mildon crossed for New Zealand, with the side holding this lead for the majority of the half.
It took Australia close to 15 minutes to get on the scoreboard, with Mick Lennon bridging the gap to one touchdown .
Deane Wawatai was next on the scoreboard for New Zealand before Australia’s Robert Sinclair-Smith hit back in the next set to score.
The last minute of the half saw a touchdown a piece to New Zealand and Australia, with Darran Robson scoring at the 19 minute mark, while Joe Biskup scored in the dying second of the half, with New Zealand going to the half-time break up by one touchdown, 4-3.
The first 10 minutes of the second half was a tight tussle, with Australia eventually levelling the game up at 4-all in the 31st minute when Sinclair-Smith bagged a second touchdown.
Australia took the lead for the first time in the game with six minutes remaining in the match, when Dave Roberts found Joe Biskup on the wing.
But New Zealand weren’t done with yet, with two touchdowns in the final five minutes of the game giving them the lead and the game three win, 6-5.
Despite New Zealand’s game three win, Australia claimed the series 2-1 after its efforts on the first two days of competition.
Senior Mixed
New Zealand has claimed a clean-sweep of the Senior Mixed division following its 7-6 win today in game three.
After winning the series in their second game yesterday, New Zealand were pushed for the entire game, with Australia staging a late comeback, but it wasn’t enough, with New Zealand taking the one touchdown win.
New Zealand took the lead early, scoring in their first set of six before Australia took the lead 2-1 after touchdowns to Shannon Warren and Derrick Cant.
Three straight touchdowns to New Zealand gave them a 4-2 lead with two minutes left in the half before Brad Lugg gave Australia their third touchdown of the match.
New Zealand scored with less than 30 seconds left on the clock in the first half to extend their lead to three and take a 5-3 lead at half-time.
Cant scored his second of the match in the early stages of the second half to reduce the deficit to one before two touchdowns to New Zealand in five minutes saw them take a handy 7-4 lead.
Two touchdowns, to Brad Lugg and Karen Short, got Australia back into the game at 7-6, but were beaten by the clock in their attempt to level the game up before the siren, with the World Champion New Zealand taking the one touchdown win.
Women's 30's
The New Zealand Women’s 30’s team has taken a 3-0 series win on day five of the 2013 Super Trans Tasman Series, winning game three by one touchdown, 5-4.
New Zealand was first to score 90 seconds into the game before Australia’s Holly Smith levelled the game up at 1-all in the seventh minute.
A double to New Zealand’s Anita Boyd, one in the ninth minute and another one 10 minutes later, saw New Zealand take a two touchdown advantage into the half-time break, 3-1.
Australia Amy Smith scored in the fourth minute of the second half to bridge the cap to one touchdown, before New Zealand’s Andrea Williams scored in the sixth minute on the wing off an overlap to take a 4-2 lead.
Amy Smith got her second touchdown of the half in the eighth minute before Alison Plath score to lock the game up at 4-all.
New Zealand however weren’t finished with yet and were determined to take the series 3-0, scoring with seven minutes remaining to take the game 5-4 and the series.
Men's 30's
New Zealand has taken game three of the Men's 30's Trans Tasman title and in doing so claimed the Masters Trans Tasman Trophy following its 10-6 win in the third game of the series.
Locked at two divisions a piece, the Men's 30's win gave New Zealand the third division win and ultimately the series.

Mixed Open
The New Zealand Mixed Open team has won its division at the 2013 Super Trans Tasman Series with a comprehensive 12-6 win over the Australians.
The game two win saw them take the series in the Mixed division following yesterday’s game one win.
